ICYMI: Jeanine Driscoll Touts Gillen’s Tax Fighter Record, Dismisses Cost-of-Living Concerns

Driscoll acknowledged Gillen’s record as a tax fighter and dismissed voter concerns about the increasing cost of living

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – Jeanine Driscoll, Republican congressional candidate in NY-04, appeared on Newsmax on Saturday, October 10, to try and make her case to voters. Instead, she made the case for her opponent, Rep. Laura Gillen, complimenting her work delivering tax relief for Nassau County. In addition, she shockingly dismissed the economic pain that Long Islanders are feeling everyday.

When asked about Rep. Gillen’s voting record, she said “so, what she’s done is voted for every single tax cut, any kind of tax relief for the district – which she ran on…”

Rep. Gillen has made lowering taxes for Nassau County a top priority in Congress. Gillen wrote the bill to permanently restore the full State and Local (SALT) tax deduction and introduced legislation to slash Long Islanders’ federal taxes to account for their high cost of living.

Later in the interview, Driscoll made it clear she is out of touch with voters and unqualified to represent Long Islanders in Congress when she inexplicably said that the cost of daily essentials, such as gas and groceries, was not top of mind for residents.

“I have to tell you, when I’m out on the campaign trail, people really are not complaining that much about the price of gas,” said Driscoll in the interview. “Obviously, groceries are still somewhat expensive.”

While Driscoll dismisses voters’ worries about everyday costs skyrocketing, recent coverage shows some Long Islanders are unsure they can afford to stay here.

Rep. Gillen is fighting to lower these costs by introducing legislation to lower commuting costs and voting to end the war in Iran in order to bring down the price of gas and diesel.

Throughout the interview, Driscoll refused to recognize that the policies she supports are causing prices to soar. Driscoll has promised to vote with President Trump 100% of the time, even when it hurts Long Islanders.

“I’m glad that even Jeanine Driscoll recognizes my record on lowering taxes for hardworking families, even if she can’t acknowledge the high prices that Long Islanders are facing,” said Rep. Gillen. “NY-04 needs a representative who can stand up to anyone who is making their lives more expensive. I will keep fighting every day to lower taxes and make Long Island more affordable.”
