Rep. Laura Gillen Hosts Clergy Breakfast With House Dem. Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Rep. Gregory Meeks

Clergy from across Nassau County gathered in Rockville Centre to discuss how Rep. Gillen can continue to support their communities in Congress.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) hosted a breakfast with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Congressman Gregory Meeks (NY-05)  with faith leaders from across Nassau County. Rep. Gillen emphasized how she can continue to be a resource for their communities and houses of worship.

“Our faith leaders are pillars of our communities, providing strength, stability and spiritual guidance every day,” said Rep. Gillen. “I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with them about what their communities need to be safe and successful, and what is possible when Democrats have a majority in the House.”

“It’s an honor and a blessing to be here with all of you in support of Laura Gillen, who’s done such an incredible job. I’m so appreciative of her intellect, her integrity, her leadership, her care and compassion, her heart and soul,” said Leader Jeffries. “And with your support, in just about 14 days, on November 3rd, Laura Gillen’s going to get re-elected as the congressperson for the 4th Congressional District here in New York.”

“It is crucial that Nassau County voters send Laura Gillen back to Congress,” said Rep. Meeks. “Rep. Gillen is working around the clock to lower costs, bring back funding for her district and deliver for Long Island. With the support of these community leaders, she can go back to Washington and keep delivering for Long Islanders.”

Rep. Gillen has delivered over $2 million in Nonprofit Security Grant Program funding for houses of worship and has advocated for a record-level of $1 billion in funding for the program. Rep. Gillen has secured almost $60 million for her district, including $2 million for a new community center in Hempstead Village’s Mirschel Park and over $1 million to prevent flooding in the Village of Freeport.
